Dr. Johnson (sometimes Johnston) was an English national that married Sarah Almena Jenks in Fulton, IL about 1847. He is in Saybrook, OH in the 1850 Census. The family had to stay there for at least 2 years because one of my ancestors was born in Saybrook in 1852. According to the Kentucky Pioneer And Court Records:... He died on 5 Aug 1856 in Panama, Central America.
I am wondering if anyone knows if the family was in Saybrook at the time or if they had returned to Fulton IL. I am hoping that there may have been an obituary in one of the local papers. Also going to look for obituaries for his wife and two daughters to see if it mentions anything of him... otherwise terrible dead end.
