From Ancestry.com, I show William Offill married Mary Rucker. I am showing provocative evidence the name was originally Ó Fithcheallaigh (Offilly or Offield). I suspect the family did not want to be identified as Irish due to difficulty with employment as well as rampant illiteracy. I have seen the family name spelled: Feily, Felly, Filly, Feeley, Feely and even Pheley!! I found the connection between Offill & Feley to be the same person! The family names everyone after everyone so there is a difficulty thre as well. I hve the Rucker line too & there are of German anscestry. Sincerely, J |
