The Village of Floral Park is in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York. The Village Clerk keeps records of births and deaths, provided that they occur within the Village. As the Village has no hospitals, it is unlikely that the major proportion of deaths are registered there. Try http://www.health.ny.gov/vital_records. This is the New York State vital records office which includes all such records for the state excluding New York City.
The City of New York vital records office would not be a likely location for these records unless your relative died in a hospital there.
Genealogical copies of New York death certificates can be requested fifty years after death has occurred.
Certified copies of New York death certificates are available at any time to descendants who can prove their descent by a cascade of birth certificates.
