Donna, Here's another possibility for the elusive Eliza? 1870 US CENSUS INDIANA Marion co. Indianapolis 2nd Ward Series M593 Roll338 Page 65 2 February 1870 COLGAN, Henry 56 m w overseer on farm Kentucky COLGAN, Frances 56 f w keeps house Kentucky COLGAN, Henrie(tte) 26 f w schoolteacher Illinois COLGAN, Mary 24 f w schoolteacher Illinois COLGAN, Judson 16 m w at school Illinois next page but this data would be included in the same household above: CANNELL, Eliza 28 f w schoolteacher NewYork (2 tick marks in columns for "Parents of Foreign Birth) SMITH, Martha 20 f w cook Kentucky SMITH, Erasmus 22 m w blacksmith Kentucky Note: Discrepancies: last name, age However, 2 pluses birthplace and the fact that "Parents of Foreign Birth" columns were checked. Someone other than herself may have given the information to census taker. I checked the COLGAN family in 1860 and then again in 1880, Eliza doesn't appear with the family in either of those censuses. |
