You might try checking with the Wayne County Historian's Office (waynecountyny.org). They have wills and estate records from 1823-present. Records of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Port Gibson, NY show a Gideon Austin, widower from Arcadia, marrying a Susan Drake, a widow from East Palmyra. The 1867 Town of Arcadia Directory has him listed as a farmer in Newark (possibly buried in a cemetery there?). Hope this helps.
