I have an opportunity to take a short side-trip to Sullivan County, NY to do some genealogy. I am from CA, and so I will not be able to do this very often. My Irish Ancestors lived in Liberty ~1840s-1870's, and as far as I know, it was their first stop after immigrating. I have not been able to get very far at all in researching long-distance, and I am wondering what kind of records or genealogy societies are available in this area to help me if I come there for a day or two. What are my best bets to visit for records?

My G-G-Grandfather (Michael Kilroy) was born there in 1855, any chance I would be able to find a birth record? Also, his father naturalized there, are there court records available?

Does anyone know of a professional researcher that could help me in this area? I want to make the best of my limited time there. Thanks very much.
