I am searching for my ggrandmother's family in the 1850 and 1860 New York census. I know her parents were Levi and Marie Carpenter. I am hoping to identify Levi's parents. I am trying to find Mongaup, Sullivan County, New York in the census records. My ggrandmother was born in Mongaup in 1852. I have found on the 1860 census for Sullivan Co. the following localities: Bethel, Callicoon, Cochecton, Fallsburgh, Forestburgh, Fremont, Highland,Liberty, Mamakating, Neversink, Rockland, Thompson and Tusten. On the 1850 census for Sullivan Co. I have found: Bethel, Callicoon Crk, Cochecton, Fallsburgh, Forestburgh, Liberty, Mamakating, Neversink, Rockland and Thompson. Can any one tell me which locality would include Mongaup? Thanks, Jim Taylor
