My gr.gr.gr.grandfather, Thomas C. Child is listed in the 1830 Ostega NY Census. When I type in Ostega NY it comes up Otsego, NY. Are these names actually the same place and if so, why and when was it changed. If its not the same, does anyone know where Ostega,NY is? THomas and his family came from Warren, Bristol CO, RI sometime after 1820 and moved onto WarrenCO,PA before 1840. Any information concerning the Otsego/Ostega mystery or Thomas C. Child would be appreciated.
