Looking to connect with the CABREY families of Syracuse. Specifically those who come from:
Their parents were Joseph Thomas Cabrey (b. March 1887 in Cambridge, MA- d. in Syracuse, NY...also down on records from MA & NY as: Carberry, Cabrey, Cabery, Carbery; but mainly as CABREY after settling in NY), and wife Augusta (b. abt 1887 in Germany)
Living family members remember when Roy Cabrey came to Dorchester, MA for the Wake and Funeral of his & their Grandfather Joseph A. Carberry (yes above variant spellings apply in his records as well), abt 1953 or 1955.
Roy married Roberta Beaulleu. He invited his cousin Donald J. Higgins (Father Higgins) out to visit him and his family in Syracuse, NY shortly after the funeral.
James Thomas Carberry's (et al) parents were Joseph A. Carberry & Mary Ann Nicholson of Lurgan, Armagh, Northern Ireland.
Family story goes that James Thomas "ran away" to NY when very young, or moved away to Syracuse, NY when young. (no one seems to remember if he in fact Ran Away due to a dispute or something similar or just moved for, say, work?)
If any descendants do see this message; you have cousins in MA who are working on the family tree (aside from just myself), we've made leaps and bounds in mapping out the huge tree from both the Carberry and Nicholson sides and would love to get in touch~
