Why don't you try to find a marriage announcement in an old newspaper? I don't believe that the Onondaga Public Library's historical collection has any from 1834. I've seen all their old newspapers on microfilm, and the earliest was a year's worth of the Syracuse Gazette & General Advertiser from 1828-1829. Then there's a gap, and the next newspaper is the Onondaga Standard, from 1835 on. These newspapers had wedding announcements in them, actually from all over the area.

The Onondaga Historical Association may have a newspaper from 1834 with marriage announcements in it. Their website is http://www.cnyhistory.org/index.html. Look at their Research Center page.
