The correct family search film # is; 0825687. What you looked at is the Catholic Orphan Asylum list. If you'll notice the Reverend is from Ireland and he is listed as Catholic Superior Clergy. That section of that microfilm was filmed twice. I looked at the microfilm and noticed that. The section that the St John's Lutheran Orphanage, West Seneca, and Buffalo, Erie County, should have been in are missing. On death records the local town clerk kept the information as well as local churches. In the New York, Oneida County and Erie County areas, some of the records were destroyed by fires. The St John's Orphanage girls and womans records were destroyed by fire. The St Johns Orphanage boys home, West Seneca, was also destroyed by fire but rebuilt. What I am looking for are the Rome City or Verona death records between 1864 and 1870. I have written the town clerks asking about those records. The first person using the name Plass arrived in New York between 1590 and 1600. The name Plass is spelled many different ways. Plause, Place, Plas, Plos, Ploss, Blase, Bloss, Blass, Blace, etc. The are several Ploss families in Oneida County, Chautauqua County, Madison County, and other areas. There aren't any other Bloss families living in Oneida County. I did find an Edward Ploss living in Madison County in 1850. I found two woman by the first name of Dolly in 1850. Dolly Ploss and Dolly Marie. I have already checked all the orphanages. I am looking for only death records as indicated. Thanks for the help, it is appreciated. |
