All of the towns were enumerated in 1865 but the records were kept locally and not sent into a central depository. Some were lost or destroyed. The same is true for the rest of the NY State censuses.
Familysearch has the 1865 State Census and the Orphan Asylum is there but there are no Ploss or anything similar listed. You can look for yourself.
The Asylum starts on page 89 or image 45 of 73 in West Seneca.
My intent was not to argue with you, just to be sure you were chasing the right family. Bloss was a common name in the area. The village of Blossvale was named after them.
