My great-grandfather John M. Crawe's ancestry has been tough to figure out! He seems to have lived in Earlville with David K. Crawe, but his death record lists his father and mother as Philo and Mary Burch, suggesting an adoption by Crawe? Or a re-marraige by his mother Mary to Philo Burch? Here is what I know from actual documents. John M. Crawe was born in Rome, NY in 1862. He married Eva Walker April 27, 1884,in Lorraine, Jefferson Co, NY, and divorced Eva (after having my grandmother and 2 other children)on Sept.29, 1894, at the Madison County Court. (I have a copy of this divorce decree.) He then married Jennie Mae Gifford, had one son Arthur Ithamer Crawe, and died (of kidney disease-"Bright's disease")March 3, 1898, in Hamilton, Madison Co., NY. I need to discover why John M. Crawe's parents are shown as Philo and Mary Burch. Hope somone knows! Darla
