Israel Perkins and Mary "Polly" Mallory were indeed the parents of your Hiram L Perkins. Hiram's first wife, was his half-sister (if the information I have is correct), Amelia French, daughter of John French b 1796....
Hiram married five times....
mary mallory married John French after Isreal Perkins died... The Frenchs were from Ct and came with the mallorys to Vt and then to Canada.
Dr. Harley Ellsworth French and Dr. Burton Lee French, grandsons of John and Polly (Mallory) French, recall that their father, David Scott French, born in 1833 in Rossie, St. Lawrence Co., N.Y., told of seeing his grandfather, Henry French, the Loyalist, a little old man, wearing a peculiarly shaped red cap while seated on the porch of his home; that he died at about ninety-four years of age, when David was in his teens. Assuming that David was fifteen when his grandfather died, Henry was born about the year 1754. David said his family visited kinsmen in Vermont.
In 1937 Wilbert Israel Mallory of Mallorytown identified the site of their home, about four hundred feet east of the cemetery, on the south side of the road. He often went to their well for water, when attending the near-by school and frequently drove John French to mill. He remembers when John French died, about the year 1863, and that members of the family came and took Polly French away.
