Sorry, been out of town and just got your reply to my query of Norris N. Phillips.
Since posting my message in August, I have also been looking into this "Norris" from Wis. From tracing the same census's you found, I learned his wife Martha, now a widow, is listed in the 1900 & 1910 census in Elroy City, Juneau Co., WI., living with her sister, Angeline Carr. Looking for a record of her death or obit, as she is not in the 1920 census. She did apply for a pension in Dec. of 1892, in Plymouth, Juneau Co., WI.
He is also the only Norris N. Phillips I found, that has the same year of birth, middle initial, year of death and from NY., as my gr-uncle. I believe the info from Jefferson Co., NY. is a mistake and he enlisted in Co.F, 16th Infantry Regiment in Wis., not NY.
Will not be able to confirm a family connection until I receive the pension files from NARA I sent for, to learn his parents names. Hopefully they are the same as my gr-grandparents, Alonzo and Lavinia (Fillmore) Phillips, of Jefferson Co. NY. Should also list his Place of death, which I found no record of in NY. I do know, my gr-uncle Norris, is Buried in the Woodside Cemetery in Ellisburg, NY. near my other ancestors!!
Thanks for your reply Linda. I will post a message as to whether or not he is my gr-uncle, when I receive further confirmation.
