"Victory on Lake Champlain!... 14,000 British myrmidons were defeated and put to flight by 5,000 Yankees and Green-mountain Boys, on the memorable Eleventh of Sep, 1814...And what a victory it was- for this battle was the turning point in the War of 1812. Upon hearing of the defeat of the mighty British fleet in the bay, Lieut. General Sir George Prevost abandoned his attempt to sever the new nation and fled into Canada. The fledgling United States navy had defeated the world's strongest naval power on Lake Champlain."

"Lemuel was a minister who commenced preaching in 1853 with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Sackets Harbor. One write-up found on the Internet says that Lemuel commenced preaching in 1853, with the Methodist Episcopal Church, Sackets Harbor, and that he was a pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Sandy Creek, Oswego County, after leaving Sackets Harbor. This account does not indicate his longevity at Sandy Creek, but an article found in Child's Jefferson County Gazetteer, written in 1890 shows that he was still at this church."

Notes for HARRIETT N. PUTNAM:
Shirley Farone.ged "Corbin and Clark"
"Bartlett's Cemetery Readings show Harriet's year of birth as 1824. This is in disagreement with Mormon sources and "Family Histories of Jeff. County" which appeared on Angelfire.com/ny/JeffCo Family Hist. The latter publication also does not indicate that Lemuel was married previously and therefore the presence of Asenath as his child is very, very uncertain. There is also a discrepancy about Harriet's date of birth -- the Internet site shows that it was January 31, 1820; records from Leland Rice's research show it to have been January 18, 1820.

Note that Harriett N. Clark (nee Putnam) was buried in Three Mile Creek Cemetery in the Town of Clayton - Bartlett's Cemetery Inscription indicate that she was born 31 Jan. 1820 and d. 26 Oct. 1850. I think the inscription might be on Parley's (her father's) tombstone, but I haven't verified that information."
