How may I reach Laura?
I have a family blanket marked Jefferson County, NY, Sarah Ferguson, 1844. The blanket is about 78 inches wide and 88 inches long. (Seems to be two narrow pieces of material that is hand sewn to join togather) The basic blanket is blue in colour. There is a white overlay on one side and designs have been worked into the blue blanket so that it appears, blue on white, on the back and, white on blue, on the front. There is a 9 inch border around three sides and decorated with sections of picket fence with a tree between sections. The two lower corners are decorated with the image of a lion. Above the lion is the name Sarah Ferguson 1844. The central section of the blanket is images of snowflakes? The white material used to create the figures is worn and fragile. The blue appears to be in good condition for its age. There is no evidence of moth damage. I believe the material to be hand woven linen, not wool or cotton. I have not sacrificed any of the material for testing as yet. Jefferson Co NY is repeated several times across the lower border of the blanket. Duane Smith
