There are a couple other places you may want to visit, while in Watertown. The City Historian's Office, which is located in the basement of Watertown's municial building, next to Flower Library on Washington St. (open 1-4 daily) and Jefferson County Records at 175 Arsenal St. (open during normal working hours).
The historian's office has stuff from the military, churches, cemteries, city clerk indices for births, deaths and marriages occuring in the city from 1883-1915, directories from the 1840's etc. The records office has deeds and mortgages 1805 to present, census records from 1825, naturalizations, etc.
I do think a person could have a really good time just rummaging through this stuff.
