I am researching the surnames Russell and SECKNER in Jefferson County.

In 1822, Jonathan W. Russel married Elizabeth Seckner in Little Falls, Herkimer County. I suspect that Jonathan lived in Herkimer County between 1815 and 1825. Perhaps in Little Falls or a nearby town.

In 1825, Jonathan and Elizabeth were living in Turin, Lewis County, NY next to one John Seckner(Siskner). It is now known that this was Elizabeth's parents.

The Seckner family originally settled in Herkimer County. They lived in Little Falls and German Flats. My ancestor Elizabeth Seckner (Secknor) was born on July 12, 1806. Her parents were John Seckner and Elizabeth Nash.

I believe that Elizabeth Seckner Russell, her siblings and parents removed to Turin between 1822 and 1825. Several Seckners (or spelling variant)are found in Lewis County after 1825.

After about 1840, a John Seckner removed with his family to Jefferson County, NY. Also, One Elizabeth Seckner (probably Elizabeth Nash Seckner)moved there also. She ultimately died in Jefferson County, NY.

Any help provided on this SECKNER line or the Russells would certainly be appreciated. I am willing to share information with others who may be interested in these lines.
