Hi Edwin, The portrait of James Mix (son of Town of Champion pioneer Joel Mix) appears between pages 344 and 345 of Child's "Gazetteer of Jefferson County" (1864). You should definitely order copies of pages 343 through 347 of this book, as it contains a lengthy local history account taken from James' diary. You can get them from Flower Memorial Library, 229 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601 Alternatively, you can read a transcription of these pages on Shirley Farone's website at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~twigs2000/champion.html Here are some references to pages in other books that you may want to order from the library too: Emerson's "Our County and It's People" Joel 69, 76, 534, 541 Mervin P. 101 Stanton's "Links In a Chain by Solon Massey, 1850-1859" Joel 11, 225 Evert's "History of Jefferson County, NY" Mix 80, 334, 539 E. 588 James 339, 583 Joel 66, 80, 335, 338, 583 Lydia 430 Lyman P. 561 Mervin P. 546 Stephen 434 I hope this all hopes with your research.
