If one learns from family papers that an ancestor was hit with a tommyhawk and left for dead by Indians in the Mohawk War where does one search? Due to age of the Victim incident must have occurred after 1820 and before 1846. Victim lived in northern NY. A man named John Rector with a daughter, Mary, was killed in this incident by the same Indians..Have no further details.
