Sandy Creek,Dec.27,1943,Watertown,N.Y.Daily Times
Charles Asa Sadler,78,farmer and mill worker of
this village,died Saturday afternoon (December 25,1943)
at his home after an illness of several months.
Death was caused by a heart ailment.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 P.M.
at the Weston and Woodard Funeral Home,this village,
Rev. Herbert Harrison,pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist
church officiating. The body will be placed in the
Sandy Creek Cemetery vault until spring,when burial
will be made at Natural Bridge.

Surviving are his wife,the former Miss Mattie James of
Sandy Creek,one son Charles Sadler of Natural Bridge and
one daughter Mrs. Lillian Baker,Natural Bridge.

Mr.Sadler was born at Lewisburg,Lewis County in 1865,the
son of Charles W. and Emmeline Walters Sadler.

He was engaged in farming in Lewis County and then lived in
Carthage for five years. Fourteen years ago he moved to
Sandy Creek where he operated a farm. He was also employed
in a talc mill for some time.

He married twice,his first wife dying years ago. On Nov.
11,1929 he married the former Miss Mattie James.

Note- There are some errors in the obituary. Emmeline
Walters Sadler should be Emeline Walter Sadler.Miss Mattie
James was actually Miss Martha Jewell. She was first married
to a Eber James. She is buried with her first husband at
Woodlawn Cemetery,Sandy Creek,New York.
