Dear Jan and Tracy,

Glad I could help. I found a listing of what information is kept at the Jefferson County Records office. They are as follows:

County and Supreme Court Records, 1805 to present

Deeds and Mortgages 1085 to present (with Grantor and Grantee index) 1805 to present

Federal Census books, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880

Census card index 1850, 1880, 1905, 1915, 1925

New York State Census (Jefferson County) 1825, 1835, 1855, 1865, 1875, 1905, 1915, 1925

Military Discharges, Civil War (1860's) to present

Maps-Atlas Jefferson County, 1864, 1887

Naturalizations, early 1800's to 1970's

The cost of getting records, is $5.00 per document to cover the cost of finding and copying the documents.

Happy Hunting!
