Doctor/Docter Ripley (Doctor is his actual given name, not a title.) was my 3rd great-grandfather and I have found him in the census of 1840 in LeRay, Jefferson Co. The information that was handed down through the family over the years was that he was buried in either Watertown or Oswego, NY. His wife, Lucy and son, Sherwood, show up in the 1850 and 1860 censuses in New Haven, Oswego Co., NY. but he does not. I would assume that he died somewhere between 1840 and 1850; however I would like to find the exact location of his burial. Also I would like to find out any information that anyone has on this family. Sherwood also had older brothers George Washington who moved on into Michigan and Perry O. (my 2nd great-grandfather) who remained in the Washington Co. area where Doctor originally came from. Doctor also supposedly had a daughter Adelaide and a son Olver Hazzard Perry Ripley, both of whom I have found no records of. Any help would be appreciated. By the way Doctor Ripley was prob. born around 1790 in either Columbia or Washington Co., NY. He lived in Queensbury, NY for a number of years before moving to Jefferson Co. and Perry O., his son, my 2nd great-grandfather settled in Whitehall, NY, where many of his descendents remain.
