here's some interesting stuff..not sure how or if connected:

Revelation* Before the Grand Jury
and the Consequences.
Freeman Patten and Harriet Hess
were lodged in jail here Saturday, having
been arrested in Adams on bench
warrants. They have been indicted by
the grand jury. Mrs. Hess is a good
looking woman about 35 years of age,
wnile Patten is considerably younger.
It i* alleged that on September 38, 1878,
the woman was married to Daniel H.
Hess, who is still living, and they have
never been divorced; also that Patten
fell in love with Mrs. Heee and they were
married by a justice last January. They
were indicted for bigamy.

--------------

Harriet Hess of Adams, sentenced to
Auburn prison for one year for bigamy,
has been received by Warden Stout.
The clerk neglected to notify the warden
so that he could send a woman keeper,
for Mrs HeĢe, as the law provides, and
dr first he refused to receive her.
