I am doing research on the Brown siblings who came from Ireland to Colchester, Delaware Co. NY. The parents were Joseph Brown and Ella Carr from Ireland. The siblings were: Robert, Joseph, William, Samuel, and Isabelle and Thomas. I only know they were from Ireland. I suspect from Northern Ireland...Ulster perhaps. I have found the siblings in census records but am having trouble locating the parents. I would also like to find out when they left Ireland and came to America.
Indications are that only the siblings came over, not the parents, between 1840 and 1852. Don't know the port of entry or the point of departure from Ireland.
Thomas Brown b. 1844, married to Nancy Minerva Andress. They are my great-great-grandparents. They moved to Wayne County, Pennsylvania at some point and had three children: Cora, Clifford and Susan. Susan was my father's grandmother. All three children ended up living near Syracuse NY in their adult years. Clifford had a dairy farm in Bainbridge, NY.
Evidence indicates that Thomas had died by 1890s and that Nancy had applied to collect his pension.
Other Browns from this family stayed in Colchester, Delaware Co. NY. Isabella married a Charles Townsend.
I know there is a gentleman by the name of Mike Murphy from the East Coast who has done research on this family but his e-mail address must be old. His last posts on this family were from 1997. He is descended from one of the other Brown brothers.
Any help is appreciated.
