Donna - I think we may be referring to different William MOSCRIP's. The parents of the William I am tracing would have been 7 and 8 years old respectively if William was born in 1792 as you say. This would be highly unlikely. My information shows that Williams' parents, Thomas Hall and Agnes Moscrip did not arrive in the US until at least 1813 as they had another son John Andrew MOSCRIP, b. 1813 in Jedburgh Oldbridge End Scotland. Bible Extracts of my Great Grand-Aunt Mary Elizabeth Moscrip Day and family tradition indicate my 2d Great Grandfather Walter C. MOSCRIP (William's brother) was born in 1824 in Putnam, NY. This could be reference to either Putnam Twsp in Delaware County or Putnam County itself. You reference other MOSCRIP's in the Census for Delaware County. Do you show an entry for Thomas MOSCRIP in the 1820 or 1830 Census?
I think you are correct about possible family ties though as I have been told that Thomas and his family came over with a couple of his brothers. Perhaps even one or two of them may have preceeded them. That we will have to check into.
