I am looking for more on the following family of children.
Reference:
1850 US Census. Town of Scott. pg. 254.
153/160 A.D.C BARBER (40), and Phebe (36), b. NY.
Lucy Ann Seurl (spelling not certain) (15), b. NY.
Byron (13), Emily (9), Allen (7) and Andrew S.(3) Babcock, all born NY.
153/160 Amy Babcock (45) b. NY.
Reference:
1860 US Census. Town of Scott pg. 32.
249/251 Alonzo D.C. Barber (50), b. NY and Phebe (45)b. NY
Emily D.(18), and Andrew S. (13) Barber, both b. NY
Sabrah Babcock (88), b. RI.

Now here comes my brick wall. Could the following Lucy Ann Hakes and Lucy Ann Seurl be the same person? Over the past 30 years have not been able to find my gr-gr grandmother Lucy Ann Babcock, b. 1835 in NY, nor her parents anywhere! I know that Wm. and Lucy Ann Hakes are my gr-gr grandparents, married between 1855 and 1860 in NY. I have a copy of her death certificate from Adams County, Wisconsin. In it her parents are given as Alanson and Caroline Babcock, but that is as close to finding them as I have come.
Reference:
1860 US Census. Town of Cuyler. pg. 9.
73/67 Wm. D. Hakes (25), b. NY and Lucy Ann Hakes (25), b. NY.
In the Barber household are what appear to be orphan Babcock children, and an adult, Amy Babcock, in 1850, and an elderly, Sabra Babcock in 1860.

Are there any guardianship records for Cortland County, that might give us some insight in to the parents of these children? Sabra Babcock (88). Is this the widow of Azariah Babcock? According the Revolutionary War Widow's pension (W.25198) Sabray Hill Babcock had 3 children, the oldest was Oliver. At the time of the application in 1849 (age 88 and upwards), she was a resident of Truxton, and in 1855 she was a resident of Cortlandville. Could these children be her descendants through a son? Any help would be much appreciated. I am willing to share what information I have gathered.
