John S. Hathaway on 1880 census in Conneaut, Ashtabula Co, Ohio. Age 62 -- born supposedly in 1818 in NY state, posibly Chenango County...died 22 Nov 1882 in Ashtabula Co, Ohio. On this census is wife, Esther E. maiden name unknown, age 51, born about 1829 & daughter Kate L. This John Hathaway had an older sister, Dr. Sarah E. Hathaway Winslow, known to be living in Lincklaen, Chenango Co, NY in 1833. John was a cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY 1833-1836, became an army officer and rose to at least rank of major in years of service. Seeking names of his parents & any other info on him.
