I am afraid I cannot help you with Samuel, but the names I see here fit beautifully into a family branch of my sister-in-law. We have an Everett E Hoskins who was apparrently the child of Samuel Adams Hoskins (son of Eli and Diana Davis Hoskins) of Chautauqua Co, NY

I found Everett with his mother Corrisande Powell Hoskins and his grandmother Diana Hoskins (who I understand divorced Eli 'with cause') in Ellicott, Chautauqua, NY on the 1850 census. Corrisande had married Diana's son Samuel Adams Hoskins, who died 8/12/1847. Everett named his 1st daughter Percia, and seeing as it is his mother's name and his maternal grandmother's name that now makes sense. Is it possible the Bible entry may say Hoskins rather than Mosher? (Although in 10 years she may have remarried.)
