1. JOSEPH6 ROSE (BENJAMIN5, JOSEPH4, EDWARD3, JOSEPH2, UNKNOWN1) was born 24 December 1760 in Northfield, Hampshire County, MA, and died 19 August 1840. He married RUTH WHITNEY. She was born 28 July 1772.
1790 Winhall Vt census: 2m +16, 1m -16, 4f. From Winhall Joseph & Nathaniel Rose moved to Shelburne, Chenango County NY. Their Winhall neighbors Nathaniel Brown and wife Dilla Eaton Brown. Joseph, Samuel & John. Eunice, Hudah, Luncida, Freedom is guess on this census.
Sherburne, Chenengo County NY roll for 1801 lists Joseph & Nathaniel Rose with no assessment.
1810 Chenango County NY: 2m-10, 2m 10-16, 1m +45, 1f -10, 1f 26-45, 1f +45.
Are Fila & Orange Rose, infants buried Sherburne Quarter Cemetery, his children. ?
Since daughter Lucinda & Chauncey her brother were in Evans, Erie County NY, is it possible the Joseph Rose in Collins, Erie age 30-40 1840 census is also son? A male age 70-80 & female 60-70 in 1840 Evans, Erie County census with Chauncey Rose page 62. Since Rev census shows Joseph living with Chanucy in Evans, Erie County NY this should be Ruth & Joseph Rose. Isreal Wells (Lucinda Rose) living 2nd house down.

Notes for CHAUNCEY ROSE:
From DeKalb County History: Chauncey Rose was born 31 March 1800 (family was still in VT 1800, but in 1801 tax list in Chenango, NY). "Soon after marriage they set out to seek a home and located in Evans, Erie County NY."There they lived until 1843 when by horses & wagon they come to DeKalb County IL. Hr entered a claim in Sycamore twp and lived on that farm until he died 3 Aug 1846. I place him in this family as in same book on DeKalb County IL is the article on David West who married 2nd to Lucinda Wells, widow, who was daughter of Joseph Rose & Ruth Whitney. Both were of Chenango County to Erie County NY then here to IL. No mention of children of Chauncey in article.

In 1840 Evans twp, Erie County NY census: Chauncy Rose 1m under 5, 1m 40/50, 1m 70/80, 1f under 5, 1f 5/10, 1f 20/30, 1f 60/70. Are these older persons Ruth & Joseph? 2nd house on same page is Lucinda Wells family, she is Joseph & Ruth's daughter. Their father Joseph died Aug 1840.

2. LUCINDA7 ROSE (JOSEPH6, BENJAMIN5, JOSEPH4, EDWARD3, JOSEPH2, UNKNOWN1) was born August 1804 in Sherburne, Chenango County NY, and died 10 April 1884. She married (1) ISREAL WELLS. He died March 1845. She married (2) DAVID WEST 28 May 1849 in DeKalb County IL. He was born 16 July 1806, and died February 1890.

From History of DeKalb IL: West home was station on Underground Railroad & David voted for the Anti-slavery candidate. Second son of David was Asa West vetern of Civil War.

       i.       GEORGE M.8 WELLS.
