There is no 'Christensad' -- check your sources again. US naturalization papers for Nels would probably give you much more information about him.
Dates in Europe are written as DD/MM/YYYY. So what you have given would become 31 July 1886 and 17 Dec 1891.
Your Hansine must be the young girl with her family in these two census enumerations in Arendal, Aust-Ager, Norway.

Yes, Ellis Island records show her arriving in 1909 and on that passsenger manifest she lists her father's name.
