According to the book, THE PLACE NAMES OF NEW MEXICO, page 75, "The first Chacons recorded as being in NM lived near San Juan Pueblo around 1750." San Juan is in south Rio Arriba. I had an ancestor who lived in Taos County (las Trampas) and who went by the name Maria de los Reyes Chacon. She married in 1766, so (assuming she was really a Chacon) she may be a child of these first Chacons.
