C.O. “Butch” Hoskins, 80, died unexpectedly in the Veterans’ Administration Hospital in Albuquerque Monday, Nov. 22, 2004.
Butch Hoskins was born Jan. 11, 1924 in Roy. He owned and operated his own trucking firm in Tucumcari. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He had been a member of the American Legion. He had been a member of the Tucumcari Volunteer Fire Department since February 1953 and had served as fire chief for the department. He loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 1995 and by his brothers Alfred and Albert and his sister Gladys.
He is survived by his son Odis Hoskins and wife Sharon of Albuquerque: his daughter Bobbie Leak (Jackie) of Stratford, Mo. and his sister Marie Kendrick of Dardanelle, Ark.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the Dunn Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Sue Mortensen, assistant pastor of the Center Street United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
