John W. Branson brought considerable experience to the President's Office. He
came to New Mexico A&M College in 1927 as head of the Mathematics Department
and was appointed Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 1941. His Ph.D.
was from the University of Chicago. Branson retired from the presidency in
1955.
