I'm working on the '1st families' of Laurel Twp. Hocking County, Ohio. Samuel Gibison, wife Mary HENDRICKSON, brother Benjamin, wife Hannah HENDERSON are among these families.
I believe their father was Benjamin 'Loyalist' Giberson. He was born abt. 1750 in New Jersey. Wife is unknown at this time... and probably forever.
I've heard of a William 'Loyalist' Giberson as well. Does anyone know if he is Benjamin's (1750) brother?
When the two brothers came to Hocking County, via Pickaway County in 1818, they brought sons, nephews or cousins. What I'm trying to do is put the children with the right parents.
Benjamin (1775) and Hannah POSSIBLY had John/Betsy PROUGH, Daniel/Isabella DOYLE, Benjamin/Polly NEWHOUSE and Mary Ann/William JOHNSON???.
Samuel (1787) and Mary had Joel/Elizabeth FRIEND/Susannah JUDY/Wilhelmina KELLER (confirmed through 1883 History of Hocking Valley), William/Margaret HUFFINES, and POSSIBLY Catherine/George KINSER. Samuel and son, William, layed out the town of Gibisonville, Ohio, where I live.
I may have this all messed up! There is also a Jacob/Elizabeth CALISS (new info.) and Joseph.
There is such a big difference in Benjamin and Samuel ages that I figure there were other siblings. Does anyone have any info. on that?
I also found Samuel and Mary Hendricson's graves in Hocking County.
Joel is the only one that I know of that stuck around Hocking County. The rest went to Illinois.
There may be some Giberson's that are of this family from Ocean County, New Jersey.
Can anyone place these children with the right parents? Was there a will from Benjamin Loyalist that names his children?
Any help would be appreciated!
