Hello Diane- According to the Nickerson books, you are correct on all counts! Below I've listed the direct Nickerson line (back to Wm, the immigr.)starting from Nancy Smith Nickerson, with book details and page numbers, and have also included the Nickerson Assoc.'s ID numbers for you: Gen. 1-NANCY SMITH NICKERSON(ID# 3770), dau of James Nickerson and Rachel Smith- b. 15 Sep 1829, Port Latour, NS; md. 18 Dec 1849, Thomas Ross.(Further info, if available by them, can be gotten by contacting the Nickerson Fam. assoc. directly- ref. the ID#). (Vol. 2, pp. 270-271) GEN 2- JAMES NICKERSON (ID#1565), son of Lombard/Lumbert and Ruth (Atwood) Nickerson, b. Barrington, NS 20 Aug 1793; died Port Latour, NS, 29 May 1864; md. Barrington, 30 Oct. 1815, Rachel Smith (of Samuel and Ruth (Swain) Smith), b. Port Latour, 29 Aug 1796; bp. Barrington Church, 18 Sep 1796; d. Port Latour, 10 June 1874. James was a fisherman, residing in Cape Sable Island and Port Latour, NS. (Vol 2, pp. 270-271). GEN 3- LOMBARD NICKERSON (ID#566), son of Gideon and Sarah (Bearse) Nickerson, b. NS 1768 (contradicts anoth. pg. that says Lombard was b. Chatham, which would make sense if, in fact, family did not leave Chatham for NS until 1769); md. Ruth Atwood b. Barrington, NS, 10 Oct 1775 (dau of Joseph and Susannah (Smith) Atwood). (Vol. 1, p. 320). GEN 4- GIDEON NICKERSON (ID#209), son of William and Sarah (Covell) Nickerson, b. Chatham, Mass., 14 Mar 1745; died 11 or 17 Oct 1811 at Cape Sable Isl., Barrington, NS; md. in Chatham, 30 Aug 1764, to Sarah Bearse (dau of Benjamin and Jane (Collins) Snow Bearse). Sarah died 24 Apr 1815 at Barrington (her mother was the dau of John and Hannah (Doane) Collins, and the widow of Prince Snow). (From book text by Thomas E. Smith, Historian, in part): "Sometime after 1769 Gideon moved his family to Barrington,.... and was an early settler living first at the North East Point secion of Cape Sable Isl. and then moving to the forfeited lands of Peleg Bunker, John Davis, Issac Annibal and Elisha Hopkins, he getting a NS Government Grant for his large section.....his family of 3 sons and 9 daughters married and many of them settled on this property......". (Source: Vol 1, p. 143). GEN 5- WILLIAM NICKERSON (ID#78)(for some yet undiscovered reason, he was known as William "Red Stockings"), son of William and Deliverance (Lombard) Nickerson, b. 15 May 1701 Chatham, Mass; died Feb 1763, prob. Chatham (it is written of William's death that he drowned in a creek). About 1723,he md. Sarah Covell (dau of Joseph and Hannah (Bassett) Covell); her birth date not discovered, but died before 22 Nov 1790 when noted in the Chatham records as deceased. (Vol. 1, pp. 56-58). GEN 6-Ens. WILLIAM NICKERSON, son of William and Mercy (Williams) Nickerson, b. betw. 1668 and 1675 at Monomoit, Mass; died betw. 19 Oct and 15 Nov 1742; md. 1st abt. 1700 Deliverance Lombard/Lumbert, b. Monomoit, dau of Caleb, Sr.; died abt. 1716. (Vol. 1, pp. 35-36). GEN 7 - WILLIAM NICKERSON (ID#10), was the son of William1, the immigrant, b. at Yarmouth, MA., 1646; bp. at Barnstable, Mass. 1 June 1646; death date uncertain; estate proved 7 April 1719 at Chatham, Mass. He md. 30 Nov 1668 Mercy Williams, b. Eastham, Mass. abt. 1644 (dau of Thomas and Elizabeth (Tate) Williams); d. "7 (2) 1739" at Chatham betw. 90 and 95 years of age, leaving 157 descendants. (Vol. 1, p. 29). GEN 8- WILLIAM NICKERSON (William, Thomas, Thomas, all England), the immigrant, was born 1604, Norwich, England, son of William and Alice (_____)Nickerson; died betw. 30 August 1689 and 8 Sep 1690 at Monomoit, Mass., and is buried at Burial Hill, now Chatham Port, Mass. He md. abt. 1627 Anne Busby, born 1607-8 in Norwich (dau of Nicholas and Bridget (Cocke) Busby); died after 18 May 1686 at Monomoit and is prob. buried near William. William was a tailor apprentice to his father in 1621 and was admitted a worsted weaver and freeman in Norwich 18 May 1632. He and his family sailed from Yarmouth, England, 15 April 1637 on the ship John and Dorothy, arriving at Salem, Mass., 20 June 1637.
