David, the good news is I can help you with your research on your ORCHARD's.

My husband's grandmother was Laura Lillian ORCHARD, she was the 10th child of George Henry ORCHARD and Laura BOCKMAN, and of course a sister of Clara's. All in all there were 14 children to George Henry ORCHARD and Laura BOCKMAN (Clara was their 2nd child).

Here are some brief details:

George Henry ORCHARD was born 11 June 1858 in Papanui.
Laura BOCKMAN, was in fact born Lenora Sophia Maria BOECKMANN in Waimea East, Nelson on 31 Jan 1872.
George and Laura married 12 June 1889 in St Alban's Anglican Church in Ohoka.
George died March 1925 and Lenora "Laura" in Sept 1947. Both are buried in Hastings Cemetery.
Sadly George and Laura lost 2 sons to WWI, the other being Frank Henry ORCHARD in 1918.

I do have a lot of information on the New Zealand Orchard's I am researching, but there are still gaps I would like to fill in and people to link up, hence my post about hearing from any New Zealand ORCHARD's.

I'm only more than happy to help (and share) with other ORCHARD researchers. So if you'd like to know more about the family drop me an email and I'll see if I can be of help.
