Philomela Young may have been born in the Netherlands. Her son, Van Reynolds' death record says his mother was Philomela Young born in the Netherlands. The index for Netherlands, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1910 FHL microfilm 113504 has Maria de Jong born 22 May 1818 in Amsterdam, Noord-Amsterdam, Netherlands to Pijebe Klasses de Jong and Margarieta Schermer. Marie had siblings Nicolas b 23 Jun 1812, Johannes, b 12 Nov 1820, and Johanna, born 16 Apr 1809. Philomela married Orlando Parsons Reynolds about 1847 in Allegany County, New York. He was born in Windham Township, Greene County, New York. Philomela, birth record place might be confused on Van's death record because her cousins or siblings birth's were in the Netherlands. An informant on Philomela's birth record was Sophronia Adelia Rogers.
Where should I look for emigration/immigration records before 1818?
