Local Deaths: Merle Page

Merle O. Page, 74, of 222 E. 15th Street, died Thursday in a local hospital.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home, with the Rev. Irvin Burlison officiating. Burial will be in Chapman Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Eagles Heart Fund.

Mr. Page was born Feb. 11, 1903, at Central City, to Adolph and Lenora Nichols Page. He attended school at District 74 and Grand Island, when the family moved here in 1911.

He married Maria Beyer on May 31, 1935, at Grand Island and worked at service stations and at the ordnance plant in World War II.

He was a member of F.O.E. Aerie 378.

Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Robert [Carolee] Tilson of Lexington; a brother, Harry of Grand Island; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Gebhart [sic] of Grand Island and Mrs. Harriet Kranz of Norwalk, Calif.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Mary Ann Page, 83, formerly of 222 E. 15th, died Thursday, Sept. 6, at a care center in Papillon.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Livingston-Sonderman Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Ford will officiate. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Page was born Feb. 28, 1907, in Grand Island to Charles J. F. and Bertha Zillmann Beyer. The Beyer family moved to Palmer in 1915. She attended rural schools in Hall and Merrick Counties.

She married Merle Page May 31, 1935 at Grand Island. They made their home here in Grand Island. They lived at 222 E. 15th, for almost 50 years. Mrs. Page was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Robert [Carolee] Page Tilson of Omaha and one sister, Mrs. Howard [Clara] Winkler of Covina, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nov. 17, 1977; five brothers, Carl, John, William, Walter and Charles; and four sisters, Bertha Beyer, Esther Reade, Emma Beyer and Rose Foster.
