Hi!
I am researching my grandfather's family. my great grandfather was a homesteader in Farnam
his name was Samuel D. Rice, and he came from PA by way of Illinois. His children wereas of the 1900 Frontier County School Census: Lena, 7; Stuart (also known as Jacob Stuart),5; and not mentioned, my grandfather Harry Clark, born 8 April 1898. My sibs and I are the last of this line.
His brother was Jacob B. Rice, born 18 Feb 1847 in Fayette County, PA, (probably Pennsville).
Jacob, or JB married Luella Lydic on 6 June 1889.
they had five children as of the 1900 Frontier County School Census: Lizzie, 7; Nellie, 9; jay, 1; May, 3; Laura (no age given, perhaps an infant.)
Jacob was also listed as a County Comissioner for Frontier,(registered Republican.)
He was not mentioned as a survivor in Sam's obit,so i assume he had passed away by 1917.
Please, any Rices out there, please help me trace back and fill in the gaps.
thanks for your time.
