I am trying to gather data on Julia Emily VanDerCook, wife of James Forsyth VanDerCook and her daughter Harriet
"Hattie" Vandercook. All three appear in the 1880 US Census as follows:

Julia had previously married Elias CLOSE on 29 June, 1854 in Sandusky Co., OH. Unfortunately, Mr. Close died about four months after the marriage. Julia then married James Forsyth VanDerCook 5 December, 1863 at Clyde, Sandusky Co., OH. Harriet, born circa 1865 in Nebraska, appears to have been their only child.

I have solid information on James F. VanDerCook. He died 20 January, 1904 in Florence and lies buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha. However, I have been unable to trace either Julia or Harriet. Did Julia take a third husband? Did Harriet ever marry? I have been a VanDerCook family reasearcher for well over 20 years and am trying to clear up a few details in this line. Based on what I have found so far, it seems likely that Julia was one of the first women physicians practicing in Nebraska.
