Walfrid Johnson & Carrie Rudie
Walfrid Johnson was born in Smaaland, Sweden in 1881. He came to the United States in 1910 and homesteaded in Mclean county, 10 miles northwest of Roseglen, N. Dak. He and Carrie Rudie, who came to the U.S. in 1914 from Valdres, Norway where she was born in 1888, were married in 1915. In 1919 they purchased a farm one mile north of their homestead, which today is owned by their son Clarence and his family. The Johnsons became parents of four sons and one daughter. The oldest son married Eula Vinson and has six children and lives in Tacoma, Wash. Their son, Arthur, was killed in World War II. They also had twins, Clarence and Willie (Willie died in infancy,) Clarence is married to Delores Smith, and their three children include twins, Richard and Russell and son Gary. Vivian married Art Forsman and their two girls are Karen and Kathryn of Roseglen. Walfrid Johnson died in 1960.
