Thanks for replying. We have now found the census records on familysearch.org. Now that we know they were in KY and not in NC, that opened many doors. How crazy is it that they lived in Greenup County, and we lived there yet couldn't find them? I noticed a 5 month old female, Nancy, in 1860, but I didn't have her anywhere else.
Hubby is descended from Louvina as you have seen. Louvina was married to George Lewis Bradley and though we have no solid proof yet, it may be that GL's father is Jesse and he may have another brother named Jesse as well. There is a Jesse Bradley family in Owsley county KY, so that may be how Louvina met GL. We're pretty sure he was in the Civil War (at least he enlisted.....whether he actually showed up we're not sure about), and that at one time he was a coal miner, but we think that was pre-Louvina. We also know Louvina was a second wife. His first wife was considerably older htan he and they don't appear to have had children together. GL seems an enigma at this point. Louvina named nearly all of her children after her brothers and her father, so it appears that she was quite close to them.
Wonder why Louvina's death certificate lists Mathilda as "Liddie?" I wonder if that is another potential nickname or if it was an error?
My husband still has family in Greenup County though we moved to WV years ago. Are you near KY at all? You can email me privately at email@example.com if you want to keep that off the boards. My hubby is quite excited to find another cousin particularly in a line he's struggled with for years.
