Thanks so much Connie for your help. It is hard to get everything in place for this family. Ellis Melton married Elizabeth Mor on June 1. 1876. A death certificate for a Monroe Melton, in Mitchell County, shows he was born June 20, 1874 in Buladean, NC (Mitchell Co)and died June 20, 1949. Son of unknown and Betty Mars. (This could have been a son born before she married and could not have been the son of Ellis.......don't know!) This Monroe Melton was/is buried in Beans Creek Cemetery in Mitchell County, NC. Death certificate info you sent on Sidney Monroe Melton shows he was born August 10, 1875 and died December 21, 1958 in Madison County, NC. Name of father: Ellis Melton. Both of these children, Monroe and Sidney were born before the marriage of Ellis and Elizabeth "Betsy" Morrow. Bettie Melton , age 72, 1930 Mitchell County, NC census, was shown to be widowed and living with her son, Monroe Melton, age 52, also widowed. A death certificate shows that Betsy Melton died on April 17, 1930 in Herrell, Mitchell County. Shows she was born January 11, 1854 in (Yancey maybe). Her husband was Elis Melton. So this seems to prove that Betty Mars the mother of Monroe Melton is the same as Elizabeth Mor who married Ellis Melton. In both the 1910 and 1920 Mitchell County census, Ellis Melton is shown to be in the home of a son, Wheeler Melton, born about 1884. Whether Sidney and Wheeler Melton were the sons of Elizabeth or someone else, I'm not sure. Also in 1880 census in the household of John C and Susan Melton was a granddaughter, Susa (maybe it should have been Susan or
Susie) 2 year old, and my thinking is this was probably a daughter of Ellis also.........It does get so confusing. Did Ellis have 4 children: Monore, Sidney Monroe, Susa/Susan and Wheeler. OR were some of these named children of Elizabeth only!!!

Again, I really do appreciate your help in solving this mystery. Some questions have been answered with your sharing info and I feel I am much closer to solving the remaining questions than heretofore.

Thank you kindly,
Vernell
