Does anyone know anything about James Jones of Yancey County, North Carolina? He was born in 1844 and was very well known in the area for being a blacksmith. His grandson Crawford Ayers in the "Voices of Yancey" describes Jim Jones as being one the of best blacksmiths in North Carolina. He married a woman name Mary (possibly Mary Goodson) and had a daughter named Laura Jane Jones(born 1868). His daughter married Thomas Charles Ayers on 27 Jun 1884.
I suspect James Jones father is Austin P. Jones (born 1800) because Austin was living in the area had a son named James. Austin was also a blacksmith.
