Peggy: In the 1860 census for Rolesville, NC (Wake County, Northeastern Division, Page 178) http://search.ancestry.com/browse/view.aspx?dbid=7667&iid=4237522_00456&pid=41536207&ssrc=&fn=Jarrel&ln=Young&st=g there is a Jarrell Young who has a son Simon who is 12 years old. That would have made Simon's birth year about 1848 give or take.
