Do you think you are related to this family?

I have a cousin with surname Colvard and he has traced his family to western NC area. He thinks his Colvard line came
from either Wilkes or Surry counties, but he is only guessing. However, when his family moved to Hardemann Co., TN in the early 1800's, the Gage, Ross, Riggs (Ricks), and Cody families went with him and his sons and daughters married into the above named families between 1826 and 1835.

All the families listed above -- Gage, Ross, Riggs, and Cody
lived in Rutherford Co. before moving to Hardemann Co., TN.
That's why I think there may be a Colbert/Colvard line that lived in Rutherford Co. in late 1780's and 1790's.

His family started with William Pleasants Colvard/Colbert. He married Rebecca Davis. (The Davis family may have also lived in Rutherford Co). Both William and his wife Rebecca
were born ca. 1770.

Their children were:
Pleasant Colvard/Colbert b. ca. 1800 m. Jane Bailey 29 June
1826 - Hardemann Co., TN;
Rebecca b. ca. 1801, m. John Riggs 2 May 1829;
Sarah ca. ca. 1805 m. John Dunaway;
Janie b. ca. 1807 m. James Cody 19 April 1826;
Elizabeth c. 1808, m. Alexander Ross 3 Jan 1835;
Wade Hampton Colvard b. 1812, m. Latha Ann Gage 30 Jan 1830.

You must not confuse this Wade Hampton Colvard/Colbert with
Wade Hampton Colvard b. 1805 in Wilkes/Surry county area. This Wade Hampton married Phoebe Vannoy in 1831.

Genealogy charts are constantly confusing these two William Colvard/Colbert's and their sons Wade Hampton Colvard.

My family is also being added to chart in some instances.
I am a direct line descendant of Thomas and Sarah Colbert/Colvard who lived in Halifax and Franklin counties, NC.

Although the Colvard family that moved to Hardemann Co., TN and I share the same DNA, there is no primary source evidence showing that they are connected to my family in
Franklin Co.

I believe a John Colbert could possibly be the progenitor of the Colbert family of Rutherford Co. Coincidentally, this family had twins -- Lewis and Louisa. My family also has a history of twins.

My 3rd GG Thomas Colvard/Colbert married Vashty Pinnell ca. 1797 and their sons Ira Joe and John Pinnell Colbert were twins. (Ira Joe was my 2nd GG).

I have another Colbert line that may have started with a William Colbert line. This line follows Henry Colbert of Surry and Wilkes Co. Families connected to this family are
Childers, Gillespie, York, James Lakey, Richard Allen, Jacob Cook, and John Billings.

How did you get involved with Colberts of Rutherford and what lines are you following?
Richard Allen Colbert
