Your William Frady, born about 1826/7, was presumably a grandson or greatgrandson of Charles Frady (otherwise Carl Simon Wrede)who was born about 1754/4 in Brunswick, Germany. A Hessian soldier in America as Carl Simon Wrede, served in Brunswick Regt. v. Rhetz. Deserted at Winchester, VA in 1781. After deserting, he took the Americanized name Charles Frady. Of Hebron Lutheran Church, Culpeper Co., VA, taxed in 1783 and 1787, deed 1790, communion 1792 with wife Barbara (surname variously as Vorete, Veraity, Frawdy, Frady). Began buying land in 1793 in Surry (now Yadkinl) Co., NC. In Surry on 1800 Census. Trustee of Mt. Sinai Methodist Church, Surry in 1808. Moved to Burke (now McDowell) CO., NC about 1813 and taxed there with 375 acres in 1815 (Crooked Creek, Broad River, Catawba River). Of Rutherford Co. in 1820. Sold land there in 1821. Purchased land in Buncombe Co., NC between 1823 and 1827. Appears to have died before 1830 Census.

Unfortunately, the destruction of many of the early records of both Burke and Buncombe Co. make tracing his descendants difficult. There is not any surviving will or probate record for Charles, nor for most of his sons. From what I have been able to glean, Charles had sons Henry (ca.1781/5-?), John (ca. 1786/7-1874), George Washington (ca. 1795/6-ca.1870), Ephraim, and William. Only some of their children are known with any clarity.

Best of luck with your search.
