Am researching William Henery Barnes, b Jun 17, 1843, d Mar 21, 1941, Robeson County, Lumberton, NC. He was a member of the Willis Pope Camp contingent in Company D, 18th North Carolina Regiment. He was buried in Robeson County with full military honors by a squad from the 39th Infantry in the Ninth Division US Army from Fort Bragg, NC. A newspaper article sts he was Robeson County's last survivor of the Civil War. Possibly had a brother, James Quincy, that may have moved to Texas. Married twice, unk name of 1st wife. They had approx 8-9 children. 2nd wife, Elizabeth Phillips b May 25,1849,d Jan 28,1933, no children. 1889 Apr 30 - W. H. & E. Phillips Married in Robeson County Children of William Henery w/ 1st wife 1 - Hattie Rosella b 11-9-1885, d 9-11-1992, Member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Inducted May 20, 1957 2 - Carmier F 3 - Ottie F 4 - Richard Hanes b 3-5-1868, d 7-25-1951, Married to Edna Jane Brown, 9 children 5 - John 6 - Bill 7 - Easter Any info that you may have would be appreciated.
